The strength of a glamour depends on the caster's skill and magical reserves; a powerful High Lord can maintain complex illusions over vast areas, while a lesser faerie might only manage a simple disguise.

In Their Own Story

In the shadowed woods of the Spring Court, a lone faerie woman knelt by a stream, her true form hidden beneath a glamour of golden hair and soft features. She watched a mortal hunter approach, his eyes scanning the trees for game. With a flick of her wrist, she thickened the illusion around her, becoming a fallen log covered in moss, the scent of damp earth and rot blooming around her. The hunter passed within arm's reach, oblivious, his breath misting in the cool air, his boots crushing a patch of night-blooming jasmine. Glamour works by manipulating the perceptions of others, projecting a false image over reality. It is not true transformation; the caster's actual form remains unchanged beneath the illusion. To maintain a glamour, the caster must concentrate, though skilled users can sustain it for hours with minimal effort, even while walking or speaking. Glamour can be broken by strong physical or magical force, such as iron touching the illusioned object or a powerful faerie seeing through the deception—often as a sudden crack in the air, like splintering glass.
